In Advanced Stages, Fancher is exploring the emotional effects of advanced dementia or Alzheim-er's as described to the artist by a close family member suffer-ing from Alzheimer's.

Compared one's disappearing memo-ries to having one's head locked in a mask or fog and metal pins.

The mask used was crafted using brass pins. Fancher acted out the physical movements of a loved one with Alzheimer's.

The physical movements express the frustration and confusion of the sufferer. Time lapsed images record fuzzy impressions, layered memories and the struggle to free oneself of this cruel mask.
